The talented students of Sotogrande International School are preparing their latest musical masterpiece which will be performed on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of March at Teatro Juan Luis Galiardo, San Roque. On Saturday 22nd the audience is invited to attend dressed up in 1980s clothes and be part of the fun.

Back to the 80’s, in association with Jyske Bank, is a "totally awesome" musical that tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School that graduated in the 1980's, as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, who is now 30-something. This pays homage to the music, fashion, films and TV of this great era, including high-energy dance routines, some of the most popular songs ever written and even a Star Wars inspired dream sequence. It will delight and amuse an audience of any age and the exceptional calibre of performers takes this far beyond a traditional school play. There will be a free matinee performance for local schools, followed by two performances on 21st and 22nd March which are open to the public.

Tickets will be on sale from the uniform shop of Sotogrande International School, Videola in Paniagua, Boutique Dani in Marbella and Look Your Best fitness studio in Puerto Banus and priced 5€ for standard entry and 10€ for VIP tickets. VIP tickets include a pre-theatre drinks reception at the school’s boarding house in San Roque and transport to and from the theatre. There will be a free bus service from Marbella to the theatre on 22nd March included in the 10€ ticket price.

50% of ticket sales will be donated to The Kindred Project, the school’s a student-led Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), to support their mission of promoting education as a force for good.

Oh Dear.

Sean Connery may be cleared from a Marbella fraud case but it didn't stop Spanish judge Alfredo Mondeja to call him obstructive and ignorant.

The judge eliminated the actor's name from the inquiry however,  the Marbella magistrate said he will continue to investigate Connery’s wife Micheline Roquebrune over the 1999 sale of the couple’s former home in the Spanish city where an allegedly fraudulent luxury apartment complex was built.

As the Scottish Daily record explained:

Nearly 20 people – including corrupt former town hall officials and Connery’s Spanish lawyers – have been told they will face trial.

Connery, 83, was told he’s in the clear after denying any wrongdoing in an affidavit he made in the Bahamas.

But court officials didn’t receive the affidavit until more than 18 months after Connery completed it –and two-and-a-half years after investigators sent a letter of request to the Bahamas with questions for the actor and his wife.

Mondeja said the delays were not the fault of the court.

He said: “If the suspects had observed the proper rules of conduct – a minimum level of cooperation with judicial authorities – the fate of those suspects would have been clarified more than two years ago.”

Connery said his affidavit wasn’t “in any way submitting to the jurisdiction of the Spanish court or conceding the validity” of the international letter of request.

But Mondeja said it showed “legal ignorance” and described the star’s decision to wait until he and his wife were threatened with international arrest warrants before completing his affidavit as “surprising to say the least”.

Michelle will be investigated on suspicion of fraud and planning and tax offences but hasn’t been formally accused or charged with any crime.

She has previously claimed: “These allegations of money-laundering are nonsense.

“We have nothing to do with this. We sold the property and that is it.”

Oh well, we just hope this will eventually come to an end.

New data show that  Marbella had the most companies created in Andalusia  as well as the highest number of new "autonomos" or self-employed individuals in 2013. The report showed that the town is leading the whole of Andalusia in its recovery.

As explained by Mayor Angeles Muñoz this week,   1,068 companies were launched last year representing a 26.9 % increase over the previous year while the number of self-employed has increased 10 % to 10,088 entrepreneurs compared to 2013 .

The president of the Confederation of Businessmen of Andalusia , Javier González de Lara, said that Marbella, for the eighteenth consecutive year has been the leader of business creation  in Andalusia.

With these data , the goal of  the city  " is to continue working to reduce seasonality and show that Marbella is an attractive city for investment as well as an economic engine of the Costa del Sol " . To achieve the goal of ending the Marbella seasonality, according to the mayor , " is working on the implementation of various initiatives aimed at sectors such as education and health." Muñoz noted that " the data of 2013 confirm the recovery of the city "after years of economic crisis."

The mayor is also expecting this trend to continue throughout the year.

González de Lara , meanwhile , stressed the need for entrepreneurs and institutions to make " a united front to demand the improvement of infrastructure ."
