After the huge success of previous years, once again the community will join together to collect presents for six orphanages along the coast as well as for the charity, Amusuvig, who provide support for children of domestic violence.

Businesses across the coast volunteer themselves as drop points so locals can purchase a gift, wrap it with festive paper and label it with the age and sex of intended child before leaving it at the designated drop points to be collected and distributed to the children at Christmas.

In addition to gifts, funds are required to purchase much needed items and Christmas food, too assist with this Costa Christmas Collections is holding an event at The Boardwalk Restaurant in Marbella on Saturday 29th October at 8pm entitled Hollywood Night. Tickets are 60€ including a three course meal and guests are required to dress as their favourite Hollywood icon or in red carpet attire for what is sure to be a spectacular night of fun and fundraising.

With local talents donating their time to the cause the night will showcase tribute acts including Jordana as Madonna, Tabitha as Rihanna, J.Lo and Beyonce, Gary as Neil Diamond and Mehran as Frank Sinatra.

Showing community spirit Evento Shop, Arques Clinic and Kaftans by Sera - Que Sera have kindly sponsored the event to make sure it is one of the best nights of the year.

"I really hope we are as successful this year as we have been previously" said Kara Robertson of Costa Christmas Collections. “It's a wonderful thing for the children to see that they are in the community’s thoughts during the festive season."

Children range from 1-18 years however Kara explained that in general people tend to buy toys for the younger children with very few gifts bought for ages 15 -18. With more teenagers than ever this year she is hoping people will also think of this age group when shopping. Ideas suggested include underwear, socks, toiletries, books and DVD’s.

“At The Boardwalk we started a project last year to help the 18 and 19 year olds in the orphanages find employment, something they have previously struggled with. We currently have two boys employed in our kitchen,” explained Kara. "We are training them up as chefs to help give them the start in life they deserve! They are fantastic, hard working guys and we couldn't be happier to have them." Kara has offered anyone considering employing one of the older children in the orphanages guidance with the process.

With over 300 children to help, organisers Kara and her husband, Gary Robertson, Charley Caradas, Sera Jane and Karen Carter Southall are appealing to any venues who could offer themselves as a drop off point to get in touch.
